Built for Birmingham's businesses

Birmingham has real strength in manufacturing, professional services and a fast-growing tech scene, and creators and online business owners here don't need a generalist down the road — they need specialists who answer quickly and price fairly. Because we work online, you get exactly that, plus a nudge towards the right local support: the Greater Birmingham & Solihull Growth Hub is a good first stop for grants and advice, and our Swoop-powered funding portal searches 1,000+ lenders and grant schemes on top.

Are gifted products and PR packages taxable?

This is the single most misunderstood area in creator tax, so it is worth being precise. A genuinely unsolicited gift, sent with no expectation of anything in return, is generally not taxable income. A product, trip or service received in return for posting — whether or not money also changes hands — is taxable at its market value, because it is payment in a non-cash form. That means the £400 item you kept and reviewed is £400 of income, and the trip you covered is income at what it would have cost you. The practical answer is to log everything received with a value and a note of the arrangement, monthly.
